I can’t exactly pinpoint when it happened but somewhere along this journey I fell hard for Tarot. The mystery, images, ease of use and down right accuracy has pulled me in! I like many people used to believe the Tarot was used for predicting the future. I would go to a reader and withhold information seeing if I could “find her out” not trusting in the process and my own divinity in the practice. I sat stone faced waiting to hear how my life was going to unfold. This of course, is completely the wrong way to engage with Tarot. This approach assumes we don’t have free will and that we are living pre-determined lives- FALSE! I love how Ruby Warrington puts it in her book Material Girl, Mystical World “The days of disempowered fortune-telling are well and truly over, and it’s time to trust the power we have within.”
Today, I view Tarot much differently- to me the cards are more like mirrors reflecting back at me what I already know (or feel), my intuition or deep knowing that I have yet to access with my intellect. And nothing is too big or too small to ask, when you trust the process you ultimately trust in yourself to find the answers. Remember Tarot doesn’t predict– so asking When will X happen? or Who will I marry? Doesn’t work well to ask. Questions like What can I learn from this experience? or What is something I should consider before engaging in a crucial conversion with my mother. These types of questions will allow you to uncover and discover your own insights that can help navigate situations while leaning on your higher self.
